A Transformational Journey to Zanzibar: Teach, Connect, Transform
If you work with children — in any field or age group — or simply dream of living such an experience, join us and discover it for yourself.
At Seeds of Light School, students and teachers are ready to connect, share, and learn with us. Every participant brings their own knowledge, skills, and energy — and becomes part of something meaningful.
What do we pack? Flexibility, adaptability, and a big dose of imagination!
We meet local educators, collaborate, and together with the children we create, improvise, play, and build real connections.
We give and receive… truth, simplicity, kindness, collaboration, and joy — the very essence of life.

TRAVEL INFORMATION
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ZANZIBAR
Arrive in Zanzibar at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. Transfer to our hotel and check-in.
The rest of the day is free to relax and soak in your first impressions of the island — the colors, the sounds, the atmosphere. Dinner and overnight stay.
Our adventure begins here. Karibu Zanzibar! (Welcome!)
DAY 2: STONE TOWN, PRISON ISLAND
Stone Town, the soul of Zanzibar: a city ideal for getting lost in its streets, gazing and stimulating your senses!
We wander its winding streets with its magnificent architecture, a charming combination of Arab, Persian, Indian and African influences. We observe and photograph the carved doorways, pass by places of worship, and enjoy the sounds and smells of the city.
The heart of Stone Town is in the market. The Darajani market is a wonderful experience: the smell of spices overwhelms you. Fruits, vegetables, meat and fish are in abundance. Small shops sell the unique, colourful local textiles and clothes. Small vendors welcome you and show you their wares. “Bargaining” is in their customs as the best way to bargain. The tour of the city continues: Old Fort, Forodhani Gardens, House of Wonders, Slave Market/Monument, Freddie Mercury’s House, places of prayer.
We sail with a fishing boat to Prison Island, a small island, which in the past was used as a quarantine island for those who were heading to Zanzibar. Today, it is a sanctuary for giant sea turtles of one of the few of their kind.
Free afternoon, overnight stay.
DAY 3: STONE TOWN FREE DAY
A free day to explore the city at your own pace. Wander through the maze-like alleys of Stone Town, discover hidden courtyards, visit local markets, or simply relax at a seaside café and take in the rhythms of daily life. This is your time to experience the city in your own way — slowly, freely, and with all senses open.
Overnight stay.
DAY 4: SPICE TOUR, KIZIMAKAZI
Zanzibar was once one of the world’s leading producers of spices such as cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Today, we will visit an organic farm with a rich variety of plants. We touch, smell, and taste different spices and herbs used in cooking, cosmetic creation, and traditional medicine. We’ll enjoy a lunch featuring local flavors and sample a wide range of tropical fruits.
We then head to Kizimkazi. Check-in at our hotel and free afternoon to relax.
Overnight stay.
Kizimkazi is a quiet coastal village in southwest Zanzibar, where the school hosting our activities is located. Known for its breathtaking sunsets and vibrant marine life, it offers a calm, authentic atmosphere — ideal for those looking to connect with the rhythm of local life. The scenery is a mix of unspoiled beaches, swaying palms, and striking rocky cliffs, creating a setting that feels both serene and unforgettable.
DAY 5: BLUE SAFARI
Today, we embark on a wonderful marine adventure, heading to a sandbank in the middle of the Indian Ocean, where time fades away with the tide.
We board a traditional fishing boat and set sail. As we glide across the water, we might spot dolphins playfully dancing around us, gracefully slicing through the waves beside our boat. The Safari Blue is known as the best boat excursion in Zanzibar!
We go snorkeling, enjoying the magnificent underwater world as we observe countless colorful fish and vibrant reefs. At noon, we grill fresh seafood on the beach, savoring a delightful meal. Return and enjoy a leisurely afternoon. Overnight stay.
DAY 6: ACTIVITIES AT THE LOCAL SCHOOL
Today is our first day of activities at the school. We step into the daily rhythm of the children — we teach, play, create, and become part of their school experience. Together, we learn that education is so much more than books and lessons — it’s about interaction, inspiration, and genuine connection.
Every moment with them reminds us that learning isn’t just passed on through words, but through eye contact, laughter, and collaboration. We’re not here just to teach — we’re here to share, to be inspired, and to leave a piece of ourselves in this community, just as it leaves something precious in us.
In the afternoon, we have free time to explore the local culture, take a walk, or simply relax.
In the evening, we gather for a beach barbecue under the stars. Overnight stay.
DAY 7: ACTIVITIES AT THE LOCAL SCHOOL - WOMEN’S COOPERATIVE
Second day of our school activities.
In the afternoon, we visit the women’s cooperative in the village and meet the women who, through collaboration and creativity, support their families and strengthen their community.
We listen to their stories and gain insight into how collective effort empowers women in Zanzibar, offering them independence and resilience. We take part in preparing chapati, Zanzibar’s traditional flatbread, and enjoy homemade delicacies lovingly prepared by the women themselves.
An inspiring experience that reminds us how the power of community can truly change lives.
Overnight stay.
DAY 8: ACTIVITIES AT THE LOCAL SCHOOL - JAMBIANI
Third day of our school activities.
In the afternoon, we transfer to Jambiani, where we’ll spend the remainder of our stay. Check-in at the hotel, free time to relax, and overnight stay.
DAY 9: FREE DAY
A free day to explore the village, meet the locals, and play with the children who surround us with laughter and curiosity.
The beauty around us is incredible — exotic and full of life. We take in the colors, sounds, and scents with all our senses. Barefoot all day, feeling the soft sand under our feet, we wander from beach to beach, swim in the ocean, and enjoy the warmth of the African sun.
Overnight stay.
DAY 10: JOZANI FOREST, THE ROCK RESTAURANT, SUNSET SAILING & BEACH PARTY
Exploring Jozani Forest: We walk through Jozani Forest, following the rare Red Colobus monkeys. We observe their feeding habits, grooming behaviors, and how they leap from branch to branch. We also learn about the animals and various plants that inhabit this forest. The landscape is a mosaic of mangrove trees, tropical and coral forests, as well as underground waters and saline swamps.
Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is the only national park in Zanzibar, covering an area of 50 square kilometers. The forest is home to the Red Colobus monkeys, a species endemic to Zanzibar. Today, they are classified as endangered due to a declining population and are under protection.
After our tour of Jozani Forest, we head to Pingue to visit the Rock Restaurant, a famous restaurant situated on a rock in the sea! Depending on the tide, you can either walk to it or reach it by boat. Free time for lunch or relaxing on the beach.
We set sail on a traditional wooden boat, leaving the shore behind as we glide across the calm waters of the Indian Ocean. The sun begins to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in golden and amber tones.
Our destination: a remote sandbank, a hidden stretch of sand in the middle of the sea. There, a pop-up beach bar awaits on the shore. Music fills the air, cocktails are served against the backdrop of the ocean, and the scene transforms into a vibrant celebration. We dance barefoot, laugh without filters, and let the moment sweep us away — under the starlit African sky.
A surreal experience — one that lingers long after it ends.
Return and overnight stay.

At the CR Hope Foundation, our mission is rooted in the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Our primary goal is to create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of young people by offering children in underprivileged communities access to quality education.
As a crucial component of our mission, we established the Seeds of Light school in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar. This beacon of hope now provides education to 115 children between the ages of 3 and 10 years old. By laying the groundwork for their individual success, we are also paving the way for the future prosperity of their generation and the entire nation.
The CR HOPE Foundation is a charity, not-for-profit organization launched in 2017 with the sole objective of providing quality education to children and youth in Zanzibar, Tanzania, thus fighting against poverty in the region. Our vision is to inspire children to strengthen their local communities through quality education and lifelong learning.
CR HOPE currently provides 115 school-aged children with quality education, helping them to develop literacy and numeracy skills, and spur their interest in sports, community development, and leadership.
Our values are the main driving force behind all our activities. We believe that good intentions are not enough for making a difference, which is why we evaluate the impact made by our programs and take responsibility for their results.
